Who We Are and What We Do

| Erskine's Daniel Moultrie Science Center |
Erskine Biology, housed in a new multi-million dollar Science
Center, is one of only three South Carolina institutions honored
by inclusion in Peterson's Guide to Top Science Programs.
Our long-recognized and successful programs in pre-medicine
and other health fields are complemented by growing emphases
in molecular and environmental biology.
The Biology Department's faculty and students are engaged
in an educational partnership, pursuing the common goal of
our graduates' personal and professional success, and guided
by a fundamental educational philosophy. Our students benefit
from a diversity of opportunities on and off campus:
• flexible curriculum and degree options, including
a Winter Term;
• small class size;
• laboratory investigations taught by faculty and staff
(not TAs);
• field and wildlife studies;
• research opportunities;
• a January pre-professional externship program; and
• an award-winning chapter of Beta Beta Beta, the national
life-science honor society.
Together, these elements of the "Erskine Biology Experience"
allow our students to achieve success in a diversity of career
and post-graduate educational fields. The EC Bio educational
experience promotes creativity, inquisitiveness, abstract
and analytical thinking, and effective communication, all
of which are critical skills in today's competitive graduate-education
and career fields.
