Student Opportunities:
- Conduct original research on topics of personal interest and present findings at state and regional professional conferences.
- Participate in full-time clinical internships in a variety of public & private mental health facilities around the state & region (e.g., Harris Psychiatric Hospital, Community Mental Health Centers, Anderson Youth Association, etc.)
- Research, compose, & implement multimedia presentations
- Major requirements are sufficiently flexible to allow students to double major (e.g., with Business, English, Christian Ed., Chemistry, Biology).
- Compete for participation in summer internships nationwide (recent students have gone to The University of Chicago and The University of Notre Dame).
Employment after Graduation:
Graduates have found entry level employment in a variety of mental health settings (e.g., community mental health center, residential youth treatment center, alcohol & drug abuse treatment center, half-way house for former psychiatric patients), and in other settings (e.g., bank manager, textile management, military service, stock broker, newspaper reporter, ministry, college admissions counselor, etc.).
Graduate School:
- Alumni have pursued graduate degrees at such institutions as Emory University, Clemson, USC, Georgia, Va. Tech, Texas Tech, Auburn, Michigan State University, Boston University and Purdue.
- They have studied in such areas as experimental psychology, counseling, educational psychology, social work, child & family development, teaching, and law.
