Dan and I are looking forward
to a trip to Australia, New Zealand, Bali, and Indonesia in June.
We will visit Dan's brother in Sydney where he did the filming
production of the Survivor series, the Babe movies, and others. Our main reason is to go to meet our daughter who has been
over there since January. We love traveling---went camping in
Switzerland, Germany, and Austria on our 25th anniversary.
Linda Glasco and I did the same route 3 years ago with
Paris and London added on. Then
we've gone to Scotland several times because Dan works with a group
of Church of Scotland ministers, and we take any opportunity we can
to visit the British Isles when he has these meetings.
We love working with ministries and doing volunteer work---probably
will pursue that type of thing when Dan retires from practicing law. He surprised me last summer with a party
for my birthday and our 30th anniversary and had Mac Frampton
come up for a concert. Pam, Linda Glasco, Betty McDill, Nancy Winn, our daughter,
and son in law all from Erskine were there to surprise me, and so it
was quite an evening with our dearest friends.
Mac was a huge hit, as you might guess, and those who were there
were blown away by the Erskine spirit. I realize you all heard at the reunion
that our children are all over the globe, but will say it again: Ethan, 28, works as a civilian at Ft. Belvoir writing
curriculum for the military to put out for their college courses. Looking for a job soon. Jonathan,
27, married and in Costa Rica to do mission work later this summer,
having completed Spanish school in April. Elizabeth, 25, married
and teaching 2nd grade in Greenville at Mitchell Road Academy. Andy,
her husband, goes to Erskine Seminary. Mary Katherine, 22, is
in Australia and the Solomon Islands with Youth With a Mission.
She will be looking for a job around Charlottesville, Va., this
fall when she returns home. Come see us empty nesters! Ruth Parkinson Smith
