Erskine Battles in Double OT Loss

Lees-McRae wins 2-1

Due West, SC --Lees-McRae College entered the women's soccer match undefeated in CVAC play, and Erskine was looking to knock them off at home. Freshman Shelly Roberts (Moore, SC) had her ninth goal of the year to give the Fleet an early 1-0 lead at the 9:34 minute mark.

Erskine held the lead until Lees McRae's Holly Wilson scored two minutes into the second half to tie the game. The Lady Fleet had much of the play the last 20 minutes of the second half, but couldn't get the ball past Lees McRae goalkeeper Courtney Rogers.

Senior Goalkeeper Liz Baldwin (Davidson, NC) had an excellent game, with a spectacular save late in the game on a shot that was over her head in the top corner. Baldwin finished with 7 saves and Rogers finished with 10 saves.

The Lady Fleet dominated both overtimes, outshooting Lees-McRae 4 to 1 but Heather Sakaduski scored her 9th goal of the season at the 111:09 minute mark to end the game.

Lees-McRae moves to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference while Erskine drops to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

The Erskine College Women's Soccer team hosts St. Andrews Saturday at 2:00pm.
