How to become a member of Philomathean Literary Society:

Every male who attends Erskine College is eligible. They must attend our open meeting (smoker) which is the third meeting of each semester.

 

 "The Philo Women"

Purpose: To pursue mental benefits derived from the aesthetic expressions of logic and eloquence and for the promotion of the social, cultural, and service aspiration of our sisterhood.

Founding Date: 1957

Service: Adopt-A-Highway, Organ Donor Drive, Voter Registration Drive, Kid Venture, Sponsor Children at Christmas Time, Breast Cancer Research Fundraisers

Social: Scary Party, Winter Formal, Pre-Gay 90's, Christmas Party, Faculty Tea, Fall and Spring Rush, Greek Week

How To Become a Member:

Any Erskine women are eligible for membership after her 1st semester. She must not be a member of any other society on campus. Women interested in becoming a member of our Society must attend two study breaks and an open meeting. They are then interviewed and asked to participate in rush. During rush the prospective members are given the opportunity to get to know the Philo Women on a personal basis and as a whole.
