05.12.05 Seniors line up for barbecue. Erskine Theological Seminary hosts Senior Day Erskine Theological Seminary celebrated Senior Day Friday with a variety of activities leading up to this weekend's commencement ceremony. The day began with academic interviews for doctor of ministry graduates, exit interviews for seniors who received a student loan, and academic interviews for master of divinity graduates. The interviews were followed by commencement rehearsal at Due West ARP Church and lunch at the Ellenburg Pavilion for graduating seniors and seminary staff, faculty and administrators. After lunch the seniors presented a skit. "It was a wonderful culmination of the end of the year," said Sherry Martin, director of academic services and registrar. "Although there were academic and federal loan exit interviews, it was a stress-free day." The seniors spent time with Dr. Mary-Ruth Marshall, who conducted a written survey, but also opened the forum for questions and comments about what the seminary has done well, what needs to be improved and what improvements could be made in the curriculum, housing and other areas, Martin said. Seminary commencement is slated for 4 p.m. May 15 at Due West ARP Church. President and Professor of New Testament Emeritus Dr. Thomas W. Gillespie of Princeton Theological Seminary is seminary commencement speaker, and an honorary doctor of divinity degree will be presented to Dr. Luder G. He has also served on the boards of the National Association of Evangelicals, the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization and other organizations.
