Erskine Bowie Arts Center turns 10

Erskine students, faculty, staff and friends are invited to a birthday party for the Bowie Arts Center Sept. 9. The reception, which commemorates the 10th anniversary of the opening of the center, also serves as an introduction to the fall arts schedule and the center's permanent exhibits, and begins at 3:30 in the center. Convocation credit will be given to students who attend the reception.

Bowie Arts Center Director Jan Walker has titled the celebration "BAC to ART" and says the reception kicks off the 2004-05 arts schedule at Erskine and highlights the center's permanent collection. The title also calls attention to the rejuvenation of Erskine's art program. Walker teaches art classes at Erskine, along with Assistant Professor Sharon Linnehan.

The Bowie Arts Center houses a number of permanent exhibits as well as traveling displays, and recently added the Patrick Gallery, containing works from the collection of Alex Patrick of Greenville.
