09.09.05 Erskine alumni activities scheduled for fall A number of Erskine alumni activities have been scheduled for the fall, including chapter meetings, homecoming, a golf tournament, and the Flying Fleet Hall of Fame banquet. Fall chapter meetings begin Sept. 13 with a gathering of the Due West and Ware Shoals chapters, followed by a Sept. 19 meeting of the Greenville Chapter. The 8th Annual Fund the Fleet Golf Tournament at The Patriot at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six is set for Friday, Oct. 7. Cost is $100 per person, and reservations, including payment, are due by Oct. 1. Hole sponsors are also being sought for Fund the Fleet and other Erskine golf events. Homecoming 2005 festivities begin Oct. 7 and continue Oct. 8, with the Flying Fleet Hall of Fame Banquet set for 6:30 that evening. A meeting of the Alumni Board and Class Representatives is also planned for Oct. 8 in conjunction with Homecoming and is scheduled for 10-11 a.m. in the Galloway Center. The Columbia Chapter will meet Oct. 17, and the Spartanburg Chapter meeting follows on Oct. 24. A joint meeting of the Gastonia and Kings Mountain chapters is set for Oct. 25. Several more meetings are planned for November. "It's easy for us to become disconnected from Erskine — we're busy with jobs, family and church," said Erskine Alumni Association President Wes McAllister of Mount Carmel. "But Erskine needs and wants us to stay connected," he said. "That's why chapter meetings, homecoming and other events are important.
