9.15.04 Cycling Club members gather before a ride Erskine Cycling Club starts strong Members of the Erskine Cycling Club have started the new school year by inviting members of the Erskine community to ride with them as they explore the rural areas surrounding Due West. Junior Marshall Stein, president of the club, has organized several early evening rides that have drawn students, faculty members, staff members and their families. "I'm pleased to serve as the faculty adviser to the newly established Erskine Cycling Club," said Dr. Bill Evans, Younts Professor of Bible and Religion at Erskine. He and his son Andrew, a freshman at Dixie High School, are avid cyclists. "Marshall is doing a fine job as president of the club, and he has some great ideas for club activities," Evans said. "We have literally thousands of miles of roads within easy riding distance of campus, as well as mountain-bike trails, and the club will be taking advantage of these wonderful resources," he said. The next ride planned by the Cycling Club is set for 5:45 p.m. today, and is billed as a social ride at a relaxed pace. All skill levels are welcome, and cyclists are reminded to wear helmets. |
