Science Building Dedication January 30 (full story)

Erskine College has announced that the new $7.4 million Daniel-Moultrie Science Center will be officially dedicated and opened with a ceremony at the building, on the corner of Bonner and Wightman Streets, Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, beginning at 11 a.m.

Elizabeth Dole, who will speak at the Erskine College Commencement in May, resigned her post Monday as president of the American Red Cross, hinting at a possible presidential bid in 2000 by saying there "may be another way for me to serve this country."

Faculty Profile: Evans Leading Trip to Israel (full story)

Our faculty spotlight this week shines on Dr. William B. Evans, Assistant Professor of Bible and Religion. He will be leading a course during Winter Term entitled "Discovering Israel." Evans said the class will travel to Israel to become familiar with the history, geography, and religious significance of ancient Israel, to become sensitive to the contemporary political and cultural complexities of the situation in modern day Israel and the West Bank, and to have a great time visiting the region.

Winter Term 1999 Under Way (full story)

According to the 1999 brochure, Winter Term at Erskine College, which began Jan. 4, “combines traditional and innovative approaches to learning” and is “designed to provide opportunities for educational experiences not normally available in the fall and spring terms.” As Winter Term begins, students and faculty return from the Christmas break ready for new challenges.

Elizabeth Bishop, a 1998 recipient of a grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission for her photo essay “Snapshots in Asia,” displays this exhibit at the Bowie Arts Center on the Erskine College campus beginning Jan. 4 and continuing through the month of February.
