Graduates win "9:37" scholarships at Reformed Seminary in Charlotte

Two 2008 Erskine College graduates, Will Hunter and Daniel Wells, are among the first recipients of a new "9:37" scholarship at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS), in Charlotte, N.C.

Hunter, of Huntersville, N.C., majored in Bible and Religion with a minor in Music and graduated magna cum laude.

Wells, of Tampa, Fla., completed a double major in Bible and Religion and Philosophy. He received departmental honors in Bible and Religion.

Stephane Jeanrenaud, director of admissions and alumni relations at RTS, announced the awards Sept. 26.

"Named after Matthew 9:37-38, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest,' these scholarships seek to identify outstanding new students at each RTS campus who have shown outstanding leadership," Jeanrenaud said.

Each student chosen for a "9:37" award, given to students in the master of divinity program, receives a 50 percent scholarship, he noted.

Hunter and Wells "are among the first class of carefully selected students to receive this new scholarship."

"Our hope is that these fine young men, who are committed to the ARP (Church), would be equipped for the Lord's service in their denomination," Jeanrenaud said.
