Sell, Lopez lead Erskine men's, women's teams in annual home cross country meet The Erskine College men's and women's cross country teams hosted their only home meet of the season Thursday, the annual Erskine Invitational. Both teams captured sixth place in the nine-team event. Junior John Sell paced the men's team, finishing 16th with a time of 29:36. Junior Hunter Gaffney was the second-place finisher for the Flying Fleet men at 30:34, while sophomore Takaaki Shioya finished in 31:37. Juniors Brad Shillinglaw and Jonathan Cook finished fourth and fifth with times of 33:55 and 34:34, respectively. Senior Jason Windley completed the course with a time of 35:27. Senior Alicia Lopez was the top-finishing Flying Fleet woman, coming in 16th with a time of 21:50. Senior Catherine Meggs was second among the Erskine women with a time of 23:22 and sophomore Lauren Cross was third with a time of 23:27. Freshman Kristen Koch was fourth with a time of 24:57, followed by sophomore Elizabeth Hyman at 24:57 and senior Danielle Bauer at 25:59. The teams are next in action Oct. 21 when they travel to Anderson for the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference meet. Pine Lake Golf Course is the site of the meet and the men's race begins at 9:30 a.m.
