Erskine Seminary hosts second annual Allison Open

The second annual Allison Open, a golf tournament designed to raise money for an Erskine Seminary scholarship, took place Monday at Stoney Point Golf Club in Greenwood.

The tournament, originally planned for Sept. 27, was washed out by remnants of Tropical Storm Jeanne and rescheduled.

The tournament honors Erskine Seminary Dean Emeritus Dr. Leon McDill Allison.

Finishing first in the tournament was the team of Eddie Moore, Ken Kennett, James Odom and Rick Farr. Completing the tournament in second place was the team of Matthew Wiggins, Eric Wiggins, Erskine College Director of Athletics and Men's Basketball Coach Mark Peeler, and Erskine Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Affairs Ralph Patterson.

There were two closest to the pin competitions. Guy Smith was closest to the pin on #7, while James Odom was closest to the pin on #13.

Longest drive competitions took place on #16, where Bob Allison took top honors, while James Odom had the longest drive on #8.

Patterson said participants had a good day of golf and enjoyed a quality meal after the tournament was completed.
