11.02.04 High school "Science Blitz" participants watch a demonstration by Dr. Nora Espinoza (second from left) "Science Blitz" brings high school students to Erskine campus Some 25 high school students participated in Erskine's 2004 "Science Blitz" sponsored by the departments of biology, chemistry and physics. They attended sessions in Daniel•Moultrie Science Center Saturday led by Erskine faculty members on topics ranging from forensics to the performance of animal athletes. Erskine faculty members leading sessions included Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Nora Espinoza, Professor Emerita of Biology Dr. Janice Haldeman, Professor of Biology Dr. David Ritland, Assistant Professor of Physics Dr. Richard Schelp, Assistant Professor of Physics Dr. Paul Schmelzenbach, and Professor of Chemistry Dr. Howard Thomas. Professor of Biology Dr. Mary Lang Edwards coordinated the class offerings, and several Erskine students assisted with the sessions. Admissions Director Bart Walker made a presentation to parents and Kimberly Fober of the admissions staff helped plan the event.
