11.08.04 Gold Society medallion New members inducted into Erskine College and Seminary Gold Society Erskine College and Seminary inducted the newest members of the Gold Society during a Nov. 4 event on campus. Gold Society membership is based on a family or organization giving $1 million or more to the college and seminary. Honored last week were the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Moss. Several ARP Church officials were on hand for the recognition, including General Synod Moderator Dr. Frank M. Hunt II, Vice Moderator the Rev. James D. McLurkin, Principal Clerk the Rev. C. Ronald Beard and Board of Stewardship Chairman the Rev. Thomas C. Shoger. The Mosses were unable to attend. College and seminary officials on hand for the event included President Dr. John Carson, Senior Vice President and Dean of the College Dr. Donald Weatherman, Senior Vice President of Development and Seminary the Rev. Neely Gaston and Vice President of Development Lee Logan. A number of Gold Society members already inducted were also present for the gathering, including Mr. and Mrs. Joe Black, Dr. Marie T. Bowie and Dr. and Mrs. James E. McDonald. There are now 22 members of the Gold Society, Logan said, and new inductees are to be honored annually. "Exceptional progress and commitment to a strong Erskine College and Seminary requires exceptional commitment to provide the resources necessary," Logan said. "The Gold Society membership recognizes such generous gifts." |
