11.15.04 From left, Jenna Tudor and Katie Chester Erskine women's tennis program hosts Instructional Tournament The Erskine College women's tennis team played host to an instructional tournament Saturday for boys and girls. For the Round-Robin Instructional Tournament at Erskine (RRITE), entrants were divided into groups of four that competed in a round-robin event. The event was open to singles competitors in the 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under, and 18 and under age groups. Players were allowed to bring their own coaches, play uncoached or to "rent" a coach who could coach the player as is allowed in a collegiate match. The event was non-sanctioned, but was staffed with roving, certified USTA officials. All proceeds from the tournament were to benefit the women’s tennis team at Erskine. |
