12.08.05 Chris McAdoo stands next to his painting "Find the Way, Grand Central Station." Exhibits extended at Bowie Arts Center Bowie Arts Center Director Jan Walker said she is extending through Dec. 16 two exhibits currently on display at the center. An exhibit of African artifacts, from Ethiopia and Zaire, was lent to the center by Nancy McGill and Linda Coffin of Palm Beach, Fla., and Mary Jenkins of Due West. "Design and Printmaking Works by Chris McAdoo," also on loan to the center, features works by the owner of Revolution Art & Design in Knoxville, Tenn. He visited the center last month to introduce his work, which draws on digital technologies and eclectic artistic and musical influences. "We have exhibits up for weeks, and people intend to come and see them, but they forget," Walker said. "Then when we take down the exhibits, they wish they had stopped by. So we're giving people a few more days to see these works of art." Walker said the center is decorated for Christmas and ready for performances of "A South Carolina Colonial Christmas," beginning tonight, and she will allow the exhibits to remain through exam week, Other attractions at the Bowie Arts Center include the Patrick Gallery on the center's second floor, which features works by artists from the state and region donated by Dr. Alex Patrick of Greenville, who recently donated a number of additional works to the permanent collection. Normal hours for the Bowie Arts Center are Monday through Thursday, 1 to 4 p.m.; Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m.; and the first Sunday of the month, 2 to 4 p.m. For information, call Walker at 864-379-8867. |
