Erskine Prepares for Alumni Weekend April 28-29

Alumni Weekend 2000 at Erskine College will be held Friday and Saturday.

Twenty-three classes will hold reunions, including the class of 1950 celebrating their 50th reunion, the class of 1975 their 25th, and classes celebrating their 60th, 40th, 35th, 30th, 20th, 10th, 5th, and 1st reunions.

The weekend begins on April 28 with six class gatherings, including the 50th reunion dinner of the class of 1950 in the Founder’s Room of Moffatt Dining Hall. The class of 1938 will meet for dinner at Angelo’s in Greenwood and the classes of 1989-1992 at Sportsbreak, also in Greenwood. The Class of 1965 will meet for dinner at the DueWest Retirement Center. Classes of 1951-52 will have dinner at Inn on the Square in Greenwood, and the Class of 1960 will have dinner at the Belmont Inn in Abbeville.

For those who wish to start their Saturday morning bright and early, there will be the 8th Annual Red Eye Run at the Ellenburg Pavilion beginning at 8 a.m., followed by registration and coffee at 9:30 in Lesesne Auditorium.

At 10:30 the Alumni Association Meeting will be held, with music provided by Erskine’s Choraleers, in Lesesne Auditorium.

Class meetings and photographs will begin at 1:30 p.m. following lunch in the Galloway Center at 12 noon.

The weekend will conclude Saturday night with the following class dinners:

Class of 1942 - Bowie Arts Center (Due West)
Class of 1970 - Inn on the Square (Greenwood)
Class of 1973 - Angelos (Greenwood)
Class of 1975 - Home of Beck Holbert (Due West)
Classes of 1989-92 - Cook out at former president's home (Due West)
Classes of 1991-99 - Corbett McGee's (Anderson)
