Alumni Weekend 1999 - April 23 and 24, 1999

Erskine Open 1999 - June 22, 1999

The “Erskine Adventures '98” rafting trip was an enormous success! Thirty-nine Erskine alumni and friends gathered at the Charleston Inn in Bryson City, North Carolina for the weekend. The highlight was the “Raft and Rail Excursion”, a two-hour ride aboard the Great Smoky Mountains Railway followed by a three-hour rafting trip down the Nantahala River. Soon we will make plans for the next Erskine Adventures trip, so watch your mail and the EC Netnews for information. We hope you will join us!

The alumni association continually encourages its members to become involved in recruiting students to Erskine. Recruiting takes everyone's participation, and in fact alumni are some of Erskine's best recruiters! If you would like to become involved with the exciting process of recruiting for Erskine by bringing students to campus, making contact with prospective students in your area, hosting an “Evening With Erskine” in your home, or in other ways, please let the alumni or admissions office know by sending an email to Jeff Craft, director of admissions craft@erskine.edu or Aldon Knight, director of alumni affairs knight@erskine.edu.

The new Erskine credit cards are ready! As of March, 1998, the cards are available through MBNA, a well-known and respected bank with a successful history in the field of college affinity credit cards. In addition to helping spread Erskine's name around, each time you open an account, renew an account, or make a purchase, MBNA will make a donation to Erskine. Income from this program will be put into a fund and used at the discretion of the Alumni Board for projects to benefit the campus and the alumni association. You should be receiving information shortly so if you are a credit card user, please consider one of these cards!

Erskine tags are here! The tags became available in June, 1998 and should be on display at local highway department offices. Each person who purchases one of the tags ($94 for two years including your regular tag fee) will (1) get a great looking license tag, (2) help spread Erskine's good name around, and (3) support scholarships at Erskine - a portion of every tag fee comes to Erskine earmarked for scholarships.

Erskine is currently courting the idea of adding an on-line community to its list of web services to alumni and friends. Components of the on-line community would include an on-line directory of alumni, a personal web page tutorial, a permanent email address opportunity, and a message board among others. We invite your comments or suggestions into this process as we attempt to further expand Erskine's electronic services to its alumni and friends. If you have ideas send an email to knight@erskine.edu.
