Board Meets
The Erskine Alumni Association Board of Directors
met Feb. 27 in the new Daniel-Moultrie Science Center
and made plans for an Erskine Adventures trips to
Charleston in August and to an Atlanta Braves Major
League baseball game.
The Alumni Board also heard a report that the
Living Endowment, Erskine's annual funds campaign,
has already passed last year's year-to-date total by
more than $150,000. The current Living Endowment Fund
is at $558,322 as of Feb. 27, and total gifts to the
campaign have increased by 1,000 over last year at
this time.
SGA President Barron Suarez and Dean of Students
Robyn Agnew made a presentation to the Alumni Board
about a renovation project in Watkins Student Center.
Suarez and Agnew told the Board that the canteen area
of the student center would be renovated with glass
wall and a porch with a view of the mall area of
campus.
Alumni Director Aldon Knight reported that the
Erskine license plate and credit card programs have
been going well. He said the car tag had raised
$1,320 this year for the Alumni Board Scholarship
Fund and the credit card had raised $1,056.49.
The Erskine alumni Charleston trip Aug. 27-29 will
include sight-seeing, shopping at the market, a major
dinner event and other activities. For more details

The meeting was the last for outgoing Alumni
Association President David Chesnut, Class of 1961,
of Atlanta. Thank you for your support these
past two years, Chesnut told the Alumni Board.
He will be replaced by Sarah Wightman Brice, Class
of 1971, of Greenville. Brice, who has been a member
of the Alumni Board, said, David's leadership
has been marvelous. He has really got the alumni
assocation going. That is a tribute to his
leadership. And all his hard work has been
appreciated.
Erskine President Dr. John Carson said,
David has always been involved, even at the
trustee level. He has spurred many lively discussions
and has got us moving on several important
projects.
