Erskine Alumni Art Exhibit

This year's homecoming celebration at Erskine, scheduled for Oct. 11-12, will feature the traditional homecoming queen and court, soccer game, food, and fellowship, but for 2002, the talents of Erskine alumni will be spotlighted in an art exhibit and book signing.

"The Alumni Board established a committee to look at ways of making homecoming more memorable," said Erskine College Alumni Director David Moore. "One of the ideas that came out of our meetings was an alumni art exhibit and book signing."

The Alumni Art Exhibit, sponsored by the Erskine Alumni Association, consists of paintings, photographs, and china paintings by Erskine alumni and friends. This free exhibit is on display in the Bowie Arts Center through Oct. 12 and is open to the public. The Alumni Book Signing will be held in the Bowie Arts Center at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, when alumni and friends will gather for coffee and registration and the art exhibit will be open for viewing.

"I feel that we should showcase our alumni whenever we're able to, and I've been very pleased with the response we've received," said Moore.

Erskine alumni and friends contributing to the exhibit include Paul Bell, Margaret Kennedy Blakely, Bryan Bult, Clifford Caldwell, Libby Williams Draffin, Barbara Mickelson Ervin, Vivian Gaylord, Pressly Hall, Mike Patrick, Sarah Hunter Pressly, Connie Phifer Savell, Joy Parrish Young, Felix Bauer, J.W.C. "Doc" McKay, Lib Patrick, Beth Smith and Harry Stille.

Erskine authors participating in the book signing include alumni and friends Walter Bonner, Talmadge "Shorty" Callison, Jackie Cooper, John Macintosh, Lowry Ware, Cal Koonts, and Tunis Romein.
