ERSKINE COLLEGE PUBLIC RELATIONS DEPARTMENT WINS PICA AWARD FOR ERSKINARTS BROCHURE

DUE WEST, S.C. - The Erskine College Public Relations Department received a Special Judges Award at the 30th Annual PICA Awards Ceremony in Charlotte, N.C., for its Erskinarts Fall 1996 brochure.

The award was presented to Electric City Printing (Anderson, S.C.) in the ŇOne, Two or Three Color BrochureÓ classification.

The Erskinarts Brochure, printed in the fall and spring the past two years, was created through a joint effort from Public Relations, the Art Department, Music Department, Drama Department, Convocation Director and Bowie Arts Center Director.

The Erskinarts Brochure, designed by Public Relations director Jason Peevy and Sports Information Director Tom Lewis, includes a complete calendar of cultural events at Erskine College by semester, with descriptions of the fine arts series and facilities at the college.

It is mailed at the beginning of each semester to media outlets and about 10,000 alumni and friends of Erskine and the Erskinarts program.

PICA (Printing Industry of the Carolinas) awards Best of Category, Special Judges Awards and Awards of Excellence.

PICA is a trade association representing the graphic communications in North and South Carolina. North Carolina is the 14th largest state print market in the United States with 1,244 total printing establishments. South Carolina ranks 31st in the nation with 443 printing establishments.

Electric City, one of the largest printers in South Carolina, garnered 16 other awards, including an award for printing the Olympic Bins for the 1996 games held in Atlanta.
