Camden Band Director Honored During
Special Dinner
Longtime Camden High School band director
Robert Wertz, center, was honored at a dinner hosted by Erskine Student
Center director Vardon Cox, right, and ARAMARK, Erskine’s dining
service, on the occasion of the Camden High School Band’s 25th
year of summer band camp at Erskine College. Erskine alumnus Roddy
Gray, left, former Erskine admissions director and now director of
productions at the Governor’s School for the Arts in Greenville,
originally recruited the Camden band in 1976. "They’ve been
very loyal and faithful," said Cox of Wertz and his school. Wertz
was given a framed sketch of the Erskine Building, where band members
have rehearsed during the past 25 summers.
