Limestone Blows Away Erskine
The Erskine men's basketball team lost their first game of the season Thursday night to CVAC foe Limestone, 90-83.
Erskine led early in the game taking a 9-3 lead on the play of junior Darrin Qaurles (Trenton, SC) who scored the Fleet's opening 7 points. But the lead quickly disappeared and Erskine never led again. Limestone took a 46-37 lead into halftime.
The Saints then cruised in the second half taking 20 point lead with 10:33 to play. The Saints hit 10 of 14 three-pointers on the night and beat Erskine on the boards, 40-23.
Erskine was led in scoring by senior Hunter Roark's (Hillsboro, KY) 23 points. Freshman Brandon Burris (Rock Hill, SC) added 11 points.
"We got outplayed, outhustled, out everything. They simply played harder than we did. They got every loose ball and every rebound plus they shot the ball extremely well. We are just not a good basketball team right now," commented Head Coach Mark Peeler.
Erskine (1-1) next plays at home against CVAC Mt. Olive on Saturday afternoon. Game time is 4:00 PM.
