Erskine College Begins Billboard Campaign

Erskine College billboards will be displayed in several cities across the state of South Carolina, and in Georgia, beginning in August and running through the holidays.

Erskine's billboard campaign includes 10 locations in five cities, with most boards located near interstates and other high-traffic areas.

Erskine boards will be displayed in Due West, Greenville, Charleston, Columbia, and Augusta, Ga.

The Erskine boards feature Erskine students in scenes from the recently published admissions viewbook, and appear on roadways in full color printed on vinyl.

This is the second consecutive year Erskine has launched a billboard campaign as part of overall institutional marketing efforts aimed at student recruitment.

This year's campaign targets longer displays for brand identity in high-profile outdoor advertising locations.

The campaign was directed by Erskine senior Ashley Cain of Lawrenceville, Ga., who has worked as a student assistant in the Erskine Public Relations Office for four years. Cain spent her past two summers interning in the marketing department of Facility Group in Atlanta in 1998 and the Erskine Public Relations Office in 1999.

“We were able to look at what we did in last year's campaign and use that knowledge to focus on specific areas and board locations,” Cain said. “We spent a lot of time working with the admissions office and were very careful in our board selections.

“We took into consideration board size, read time, traffic count, art work, and many other variables,” Cain said. “I believe the photos and graphics are eye-catching and should be an effective advertising tool for Erskine College.
