All persons who are medically able to give are encouraged to do so according to Dea Sakovich, Director of the Greenwood office of the Carolina-Georgia Blood Center.

"We really need donors because it is nearing summer when there is traditionally a shortage in our hospital's blood supply," Sacovich said. The Carolina-Georgia Blood Center supplies the blood for hospitals in Abbeville and Greenwood counties, among others in the area.

"Aside from the feeling of helping others by giving blood, we will have some t-shirts to give away," Sakovich said.
