Board Of Counselors Meets At Erskine The Erskine Board of Counselors met Oct. 3, welcoming a number of new members and receiving updates on the College and Seminary. Chairman Chuck Ewart of Spartanburg presided at the meeting, which was held in the Bowie Arts Center. Dr. John Carson, President of Erskine College and Seminary, spoke about Erskine's Strategic Plan and gave an overview of Erskine's Gold Campaign, a capital campaign which will be introduced at a gala kickoff event on the Erskine campus Oct. 23. Erskine College alumna Kelly Gallamore, who is now Vice President of the Seminary Student Body, and Erskine College senior Rob Brown, President of the Student Christian Association, updated the group on student life at Erskine. The Board of Counselors heard an address from Alumni Association President Eleanor Richardson of Flat Rock, N.C., who said Erskine, like a traditional family, needs spiritual, emotional and financial support. Dr. Don Weatherman, Vice President and Dean of the College, and the Rev. Neely Gaston, Vice President of the Seminary, reported on events, updates and future plans. Special Assistant to the President Robert McDonald said the Board of Counselors continued a special emphasis on prayer. "The Board of Counselors previously published a daily prayer guide for Erskine College," he said. "During the meeting we paused for a moment of prayer specifically for friends and alumni of Erskine." In the afternoon, the Counselors broke into separate Seminary and College sessions. McDonald noted that the College session split into three smaller groups, one focusing on admissions, one on student life and one on alumni relations. Robert Galloway of Greenville offered concluding remarks and a wrap-up of the meeting. New members joining the Board of Counselors on the College side included Rick Adle, Jerry Clemons, Jason Dees, George Greene, Paul Grier, Clair Henkes, Jim Hunter, Susan Linderman, Ron Long, Grif Merchant, Joe Patrick, Steve Rosenburgh, David Strock and Pete Webb. New members on the Seminary side included Anne Alexander, James Cokley, John Dorr, Joe Ellis, Sarah Belk Gambrell, George Howle, and Andrew Putnam. ![]() Chuck Ewart, Board of Counselors Chairman
