Erskine
Open to Tee Off June 22
Erskine
College will host the 25th annual Erskine Open Golf
Tournament at Hunter's Creek Golf and Country Club in
Greenwood beginning at 10 a.m., with registration at
9:15 a.m.
The
Captain's Choice Tournament will allow 160 golfers to
participate on 27 holes with a shotgun start. The
golfers still play only 18 holes, but this change
should speed up play. The tournament will be played
in a team format with teams of four golfers each.
There is
a $50 fee to enter the tournament which covers 18
holes of golf, golf cart use, free driving range
balls, refreshments, golf towel, a late lunch
following the tournament, and the chance to win a
car. A par three hole will be designated as the hole
to win the new car if someone gets a hole-in-one. The
car will be provided by Pat Craig and Craig Motor
Company in Gastonia, NC.
Awards
will be given to the first, second, and third place
teams as well as individual awards for longest drive,
senior longest drive, and the closest to the pin.
These awards will be presented after the tournament.
The
annual tournament raises funds to help pay for the
Flying Fleet Athletic Hall of Fame induction
ceremony. The induction ceremony is held each year at
Homecoming on the Erskine Campus.
