Erskine's English Honor Society Chapter Inducts New Members

The Erskine College Xi Phi chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, International English Honor Society, inducted three new members Dec. 3. The new members are senior Suzanne McCollum of Blue Mountain, Miss., junior Josh Paine of Tampa, Fla., and junior Melissa Threadgill of Ninety Six. The Erskine chapter's president, senior Nicki Herlovich of Williston, and vice president, senior Beth Melton of Laurens, conducted the induction ceremony. A Christmas banquet hosted by the English Department followed the ceremony.

Sigma Tau Delta is a national honor society in English recognizing excellence in scholarship and creative writing. To qualify for membership, a student must be an English major or minor, rank in the top 35 percent of his or her class, have a minimum 3.0 GPR in English courses, and have completed at least six hours of English courses above the freshman level. The Xi Phi chapter was installed at Erskine College in 1987. Dr. Joan Little is the chapter's faculty advisor.
