Announces Fall Arts Schedule
From Shakespeare done in sneakers to songs Jane
Austen might have sung, Erskine College will offer a
variety of arts experiences this fall.
Highlighting the autumn offerings in drama and
music are performances by the Shenandoah Shakespeare
Express on Sept. 25, soprano Julianne Baird with
Music From the Jane Austen Notebooks on
Oct. 5, and the American String Quartet on Oct. 26.
At the Bowie Arts Center, the exhibit We Are
Who We WereA Sea Island Legacy looks at a
chapter in the story of African American culture in
South Carolina.
A full calendar of other events and exhibits will
also entertain and inform the Erskine community and
its guests.

Oct. 31
3 PM CHORALEERS FALL CONCERT, STUDENT
ARTIST SERIES, BOWIE CHAPEL
In this fall concert, Dr. John Warren makes his debut
as the newly appointed conductor of the Erskine
College Choraleers. Admission is free and the public
is welcome.

8 PM WILLIAM WESTNEY, PIANIST, MEMORIAL
HALL
After his splendid performance here in 1994,
internationally renowned pianist William Westney
returns to Erskine College for a second appearance.
This event is part of the Koonts-Lampton Keyboard
Series.

9:30 A.M. TO 12 NOON THE UNMASTER
CLASS, MEMORIAL HALL
Pianist William Wesney presents his highly successful
class on stage fright, physical and emotional
relaxation in musical performance, and other
performance-related issues, designed for all
musicians. Admission is free.

12 NOON STUDENTS IN RECITAL, BOWIE CHAPEL
Erskine music students are featured in recital.
Admission is free and the public is welcome.

4 PM, STUKES LECTURE, "TWISTED CROSS:
WERE THE NAZIS CHRISTIANS?", BOWIE CHAPEL
Professor Doris Bergen of the University of Notre
Dame is the speaker for this program. Professor
Bergen is also the author of "Twisted Cross: The
German Christian Movement in the Third Reich",
published by UNC press in 1996. Admission is free.

8 PM, ERSKINE PLAYERS FALL PLAY, THE
MOUSE TRAP, LESESNE AUDITORIUM
The Erskine Players present their fall play, Agatha
Christies The Mouse Trap , which was the
longest-running play in London during the twentieth
century, presented with a changing cast over more
than 40 years. The plot centers around a group of
strangers stranded in a hotel during a
snowstormand one of the guests is a murderer.
Admission is free and the public is welcome to
attend.
