ERSKINE COLLEGE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY CHAPTER SEEKS SUPPORT

DUE WEST, SC - The Erskine College Chapter of Habitat for Humanity has sent out an appeal to Erskine College faculty and staff asking for funds to go toward the cost of a Spring Break trip to Washington, D.C., where they will help build homes as well as work in a homeless shelter and soup kitchen.

A letter signed by Sherry Gates, president of the Chapter, was placed in all faculty and staff boxes Monday. Thirteen Erskine College students will participate in "Collegiate Challenge," working alongside students from the Massachussetts Institute of Technology and State University of New York-Geneseo. The Erskine chapter asks for money to help cover costs of the project in Washington, travel costs, and food costs for the group. Habitat will also be accepting food donations.

The Habitat for Humanity International mission statement states:

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with God's people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended.

Funds, food and especially prayer are all welcome contributions to this Habitat effort. Please send donations to Sherry Gates at CPO 706. Questions can be directed to Sherry at 379-3658.
