An exhibit by the Director Emeritus of the Stanback Museum at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg.

24 4 pm "Student Recital" (Collegiate Series), BC

Student recitals feature Erskine music majors and minors performing in fulfillment of curriculum requirements.

25 8 pm "Cyrano de Bergerac" (Fine Arts Series), LA

The National Players present their interpretation of the 1897 verse play by Edmond Rostand. In this familiar story, the beautiful Roxane is wooed by the handsome but inarticulate Christian while the homely Cyrano, desperately in love with Roxane, provides his rival with poetry to win the lady's heart. Admission $5 (all seats).

26 8 pm "Happy Birthday, George" (Collegiate Series), MH

Directed by Erskine professor of music Dr. John Brawley, "Sinfonia," made up of Erskine students on string and wind instruments, teams with "Pizzazz," Erskine's own jazz band, to pay tribute to the great American composer George Gershwin on the 100th anniversary of his birth. 8 8 pm "James Bowe and Kelly Smith," MH

Erskine mathematics professor James Bowe and Erskine graduate Kelly Smith perform works for clarinet and piano.

15 1:30 pm "Mark Cable" (Convocation), LA

Mark Cable, singer, songwriter and guitarist, is known for his ability to share the gospel in a challenging and entertaining way.

15 4 pm "Student Recital" (Collegiate Series), MH

Student recitals feature Erskine music majors and minors performing in fulfillment of curriculum requirements.

26 8 pm "Mr. Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet Band," LA

This group of accomplished musicians re-creates a band founded and funded in Lynchburg, Tenn., by Mr. Jasper Newton 'Jack' Daniel in 1892. After making three albums and starring in two PBS specials, the band began touring in 1978, combining musical expertise with down-home stories and turn-of-the-century costumes and atmosphere. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for youths 18 and under.

29 1:30 pm "Peculiar People" (Convocation), LA

This nationally known drama team entertains at Convocation.

29 8 pm "Faculty Recital" (Presidential Series), BC

The Rev. Robert Glick, Erskine Theological Seminary faculty member, presents an organ recital featuring J.S. Bach's monumental "Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor" as well as music by major composers who did not usually write for the organ - Vivaldi, Mozart, and Schumann. This will be the first public recital on the seminary chapel's recently renovated Wicks Pipe Organ. As usual, video screens will make it possible to watch both the performer's hands and feet.

30-31 8 pm "The Way of the World," LA

The Erskine Players present their fall play, "The Way of the World," written in 1700 by William Congreve. The plot centers around the beautiful Millamant, who stands to inherit a substantial sum if she marries with the consent of her widowed aunt.

2-Dec. 17 "Paintings by Martin Pate of Atlanta," BAC

3 1:30 pm "Ken Medema" (Convocation), LA

Internationally known blind pianist, composer and vocalist makes a return appearance at Erskine College Convocation.

5 4 pm "Student Recital" (Collegiate Series), MH

Student recitals feature Erskine music majors and minors performing in fulfillment of curriculum requirements.

5 1:30 pm "Bruce Kuhn," LH

"The Accounts of Luke," a one-person play. Kuhn has performed on Broadway in "Les Miserables" and was with the National Tour of the Broadway musical, "Chess." He also toured with the Off-Broadway hit, "The Cotton Patch Gospel," Harry Chapin's one-man musical. Bruce has traveled across the country performing "The Accounts of Luke" on college campuses and in churches.

The Erskine College Choraleers help launch the holiday season with musical Christmas cheer in this fourth annual production. In a fully costumed entertainment set in 18th century South Carolina, "Mother and Father Erskine" enthrall their guests with storytelling, drama and music as guests are served a festive meal.
