Retiring Biology Professor Dr. Jan Haldeman Honored At
Post-Commencement Party

Retiring Professor of Biology Dr. Janice Hamilton Haldeman, who has taught at Erskine since 1967, was honored at a drop-in at the Daniel•Moultrie Science Center following college commencement ceremonies Sunday, May 19.

Haldeman was educated at Rollins College, where she earned a B.S. degree with honors in Biology and German; George Peabody College, Vanderbilt University, where she earned the M.A. degree in Biology; and Clemson University, where she was awarded the Ph.D. in Plant Physiology.

She has published numerous articles in professional journals and has been active in professional associations. She served for a number of years as the advisor to the biological honor society Beta Beta Beta.

Over the past several years Haldeman helped establish the "Forging a Link" program, a National Science Foundation-sponsored project that fosters cooperation and mentoring between colleges and high schools.
