Sherry Martin Sherry Martin Receives Grant for Women in Leadership Program Sherry Martin, Director of Academic Services and Registrar for Erskine College Theological Seminary, has received a grant to participate in Women in Leadership Grand Reunion Consultation from the Advisory Committee of the Women in Leadership in Theological Education Program and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). This program will be held in Pittsburgh, Pa., October 6-8, 2000. "It was really an honor to be selected to attend the program last year," said Martin. "It is a unique program that helps women learn how to work in a world that is mainly dominated by men. I'm excited about having the opportunity to make a difference in how the program can help women in the future." According to ATS, the Women in Leadership Fall Conference "seeks to increase the number and visibility of women holding senior positions in theological education by hosting events at which women faculty and administators can enhance their leadership skills, discuss the nature of women's experiences in theological education, and develop professional relationships." Through a grant from the Lilly Foundation, ATS will cover all expenses for Martin, including travel costs. Martin is among 75 women who previously attended a conference and are being invited back as part of an evaluation program to improve future Women in Leadership programs. Martin will be asked to assist in evaluating how past programs have gone, and will also be asked to assist in planning for new Women in Leadership programs for the future. "I thoroughly enjoyed the program last year," said Martin. "To see these women who were in high power positions helped me to identify and clarify where I am here at Erskine as well. They asked us where we are in our own life, and where we want to see ourselves in theological education down the road." This invitation is only being extended to participants in previous Women in Leadership activities which were initially funded through a grant from the Carpenter Foundation.
