Former College Trustee Wins Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Former Erskine college trustee and capital campaign chairman Robert L. Moultrie, founder of The Facility Group, recently won the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Real Estate/Construction Services industry. Moultrie was one of 22 finalists from the Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee region recognized at the black-tie event at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta Hotel, attended by over 450 people. As a regional award recipient, Moultrie will be inducted into the Entrepreneur of the Year Hall of Fame.

The Georgia/Alabama/Tennessee Entrepreneur of the Year Award is one of 40 regional programs sponsored by Ernst and Young. The program was established in 1986 to honor entrepreneurs whose ingenuity, hard work and perseverance have created and sustained successful, growing business ventures. An independent panel of judges, composed of fellow entrepreneurs and prominent business leaders, select finalists and award recipients in six industry categories. Industry categories include Consumer and Business Services; Business and Technology Solutions; Financial Services; Real Estate/Construction; Information Technology; and Retail Consumer Services.

The Facility Group, founded by Robert Moultrie in 1986, provides turn-key professional services in the design and construction industry including Program Management, Facility Planning, Architecture, Engineering and Construction Management. Based in Smyrna, The Facility Group has regional offices throughout the U.S. as well as international offices in Europe and Mexico.

The privately owned and operated firm is consistently ranked by Engineering News Record as one of the United State's Top 100 Design/Build Firms; Top 400 Contractors; and Top 500 Design Firms. The Atlanta Business Chronicle recently ranked the firm among Atlanta's Top 100 Private Companies.

Regional winners of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award go on to compete on a national level. The national search will culminate at a black-tie awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., on Nov. 23, where national finalists and the National Entrepreneur of the Year award winners will be announced and celebrated by more than 2,500 attendees.

The Facility Group has developed Erskine's Campus Master Plan in the past decade, guiding campus construction, renovation projects and other physical improvements to the Due West college and seminary. Moultrie has been involved as a volunteer leader at Erskine as a trustee and with fund-raising campaigns. He currently is serving Erskine as an honorary co-chair of the Gold Campaign, a capital campaign scheduled to launch in the fall.
