Erskine
Netnews Goes Daily
Erskine College Netnews,
a weekly electronic newsletter published by the Public Relations Office,
will change to a daily format beginning Tuesday, Aug. 22.
"We are hoping this
will provide a better service to our readers, including a more timely
presentation of news and events surrounding the life of Erskine College
and its people," said Public Relations Director Jason Peevy.
Peevy
said the new daily version of Netnews will be circulated via email
and will be accessible through Erskine's web site (www.erskine.edu)
weekdays by 10 a.m., unless campus events dictate otherwise.
Netnews includes Erskine
student, faculty, and alumni features, campus news stories, promotional
materials on upcoming campus events, and links to the Erskine web
site. Subscriptions are free and require an email address.
Peevy said there are
more than 2,300 Netnews readers each week, which include Erskine students,
prospective students, alumni, faculty and staff, parents, and others.
Netnews is assembled
by the Erskine Public Relations Office, which includes Assistant Director
Joyce Guyette and Webmaster Angi Paulus.
"Netnews is one of
our best communication tools," Peevy said. "We receive a great deal
of feedback from our readers, and we look forward to hearing comments
about the new daily format."
The daily format will
include a redesign of Netnews, which Peevy said will provide a "sneak
preview" of Erskine's current web redesign, which will debut later
in the fall.
The Erskine Public
Relations Office first published Netnews on March 17, 1997. During
that three-and-a-half-year span, Netnews has been redesigned three
times and has added more than 2,000 new readers.
Prior to that, Erskine
published a weekly newsletter called "The Tuesday Morning Pick-Up"
to about 150 subscribers.
