Freshmen Profile: Andrea Kenzig

Among the freshmen who have already arrived on campus for soccer practice is Andrea Kenzig of Gastonia, N.C. Kenzig, along with the rest of the team, arrived on campus Saturday for a team camping trip.

Kenzig, who was an E.B. Kennedy Scholarship semifinalist, came to campus several times before deciding to attend Erskine. She chose Erskine because "it was smaller, more of a family atmosphere."

One of Kenzig’s draws to Erskine is the fact that she has the opportunity to play soccer. Kenzig said she came to Erskine to play soccer, because she would not have had the opportunity to play at a larger school. Kenzig also said that going to a larger school did not appeal to her and that Erskine was the place she was looking for.

Kenzig has had a "great summer," traveling to Cancun and also working as a swim coach and lifeguard. Although classes do not start until Sept. 4, she has already started hard work on the field. The team began their practices Tuesday.

Of her Erskine soccer experience so far, she says, "It’s hard, but a lot of fun! All the girls are really nice."
