RISE '97 Wraps up

The 1997 edition of RISE, Research In Science at Erskine, wrapped up last Friday with the display of participant's experiments and projects followed by the awards ceremony.

The 37 participants displayed projects in the areas of biotechnology and computer interfacing. The projects ranged from Romiya Glover and Emily Reinertsen's "The Effect of Sulfuric Acid on Microcosms" (pictured at left) to the "Fighting Fountains" of Tammy Austin of Pelzer, SC.

Neil Vasan (pictured below) of Vienna, WV assembled a project entitled "An Electrophoretic Study of Mammalian Sera"

After the display of projects, Dr. Bill Junkin passed out certificates to the participants with the help of their student helpers for the week, Jennifer Stahl, Robert Kuykendall, and Melissa Sprene.
