Erskine
Welcomes Accreditation Officials To College And Some 16 visitors from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) will be on the Erskine campus September 17-20 interviewing students, faculty and staff, checking out the institution's facilities, and giving the entire Erskine community the closest possible look. The campus visitors are members of the visiting committees appointed by SACS and ATS, the two associations which accredit the college and seminary. The campus visit culminates over two years of institutional self-study at Erskine. "SACS and ATS have received our formal reports and will now see for themselves if Erskine is everything we report that it is," said Dr. Brad Christie, who is serving as Erskine College Self-Study Director. Dr. Steve Lowe is Self-Study Director for Erskine Theological Seminary. "You will see these visitors all around campus over the four days they are here," said Christie. "Members of the Erskine community may be asked to be interviewed, formally or informally, during the first three days of the visit." Christie said the committee members "are here to assess candidly the nature and caliber of the college and seminary," and added, "Their recommendation will determine whether or not Erskine retains its accreditation for 10 more years."
