DUE WEST, S.C. Ð John D. Saffold of Britton's Neck, S.C., has
been named Field Coordinator for Erskine College's $10.5 million dollar
campaign for the construction and endowed support of a new science
facility on campus, Erskine Vice President and Science Building Campaign
Director Lee Logan has announced.
Saffold served as Headmaster at Dillon Christian School in Dillon
in 1993-94, before earning his Master of Arts in Theological Studies at
Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte in 1996.
At Dillon Christian School, he managed 150 students and 13
faculty and organized the move to a new 12-acre campus. He also organized
a successful fundraising campaign for the endowment and building programs
at the school.
He has worked summers for the Pee Dee Regional Council of
Governments (1992), Barnwell County Government (1991), Clemson Extension
Service (1990) and for a Florence architect (1989).
He is a 1992 graduate of Clemson University, where he majored in
Applied Economics with a specialization in Community Development and
Public Administration.
Saffold is a member of Dillon First Presbyterian Church, and is
listed in WhoÕs Who Among Students in American Colleges and
Universities. He will begin duties at Erskine March 6.
"John is a very welcome addition to the staff and brings
excellent development skills which will fit well with the goals of the
campaign," Logan said. "We're all excited about working with John and
realizing the vision of a new science building on this campus."
The 46,000 square-foot science facility will house Erskine's
chemistry, physics and biology departments, and will include a research
greenhouse and computer-networked classrooms and labs.
Groundbreaking for the building is scheduled for May.
