Elite Soccer Camp Kicks Off
Erskine College Men's and Women's head Soccer
Coach Billy Lesesne co-directed the Carolina Elite
Soccer Camp, a soccer camp for youth ages 8-18 from
June 27- July 2 with Greg Stone of Miami, Florida.
There are 42 campers participating in this week's
camp. Erskine graduates Becky Fletcher and Mandy
Cromwell, as well as Juniors Lauren Eudy, and
Christie and Erin Minion are assisting with running
the camp.
The camp consists of morning skill sessions,
individual sessions, and team sessions. Lesesne hopes
to develop players to their highest competitve level,
primarily emphasising skill acquisition.
Billy Lesesne has coached at soccer at Erskine for
the past six years. He was named NSCAA South Region
Women's NCAA Division II Coach of the Year and
Carolina's-Virginia Coach of the Year after leading
Erskine's lady Fleet to a 15-2-1 record and the
conference championship. As an Erskine player he
served as captain for two seasons and was named MVP
and All American as a Senior. He later played
professionally for the USISL/A-League's Charleston
Battery.
Greg Stone coached at Southern Indiana University
in Evansville, and in 1998 his team reached the NCAA
II National Tournament Quarter Finals. Stone formerly
coached the women's program at Anderson College where
his teams were perennially national contenders
finishing 3rd and 4th at the NJCAA tournament. He was
named NJCAA Region X Coach of the Year 1990-1993.
