"This game should be a lot different," said freshman goalkeeper Liz Baldwin, who led the conference with the lowest goals-per-game allowed. "Their field is really small and ours is much bigger. They stayed on our end of the field and clogged up the middle and it made it very hard for us to score."
The Lady Fleet made it to the finals of the CVAC tournament last year, losing to host-team Queens in a thrilling 1-0 game. Erskine's only conference defeat this season was a 1-0 loss to Queens on October 14.
"Nothing would make me happier than to
get a chance to play Queens again
in the final," senior co-captian Becky Fletcher (right) said. "At least this
year
it will be on a neutral field." The semi-finals and finals of this year's
tournament are being hosted by Barton College in Wilson, NC.
The semi-final game is scheduled for Friday, with the women's championship game on Saturday. The men's championship game will be on Sunday.
The women will be aiming to give Erskine their second CVAC championship of the year. The women's cross country team won the CVAC Championship last weekend in Due West.
The Erskine men failed to make the eight-team CVAC tournament field this year.
