Softball Camp In Full Swing

Head softball coach, Traci Westmoreland, is hosting a softball camp June 28- July 2 at Erskine. This is the third year Westmoreland has hosted the camp.

The camp's goal is to help young girls improve their individual skill through training sessions led by college players. The girls are then put into teams to play games at night.

There are 32 campers participating in the camp this week. "This is the largest camp I've had," said Westmoreland, "this is the third year the camp has been running and it has been growing every year." Westmoreland's first camp had 9 campers.

"As the program at Erskine has grown and as it continues to get stronger, the number of campers has and also will increase," said Westmoreland. "We are already starting to get numbers from surrounding counties like Anderson, Greenwood, and Saluda."

The camp is staffed by Erskine graduate Lee Murphy, Erskine seniors Shea Hall and Amy Gray, junior Melanie Stukes, and freshman Leona Walfield. Erskine's newest assistant coach, Laura Jones, will help Westmoreland in directing camps and clinics.
