Erskine College Freshmen Continue Soiree Tradition

The Erskine College Freshman Soiree was held in Moffatt Dining Hall Tuesday evening, with a number of incoming freshmen dressed as hippies or disco devotees in keeping with this year's '60s and '70s theme. Erskine's traditional dinner dance matches each new freshman with a randomly chosen date for the evening.

Freshmen settled into residence halls yesterday and are moving through a week of orientation activites that includes sessions on academics, career options, health, library research, student organizations and service opportunities.

Students are invited to a number of social events this week, enjoying a welcome dinner at the Due West ARP Church as well as ice cream and pool at Snapper's Thursday evening; karaoke in the Watkins TV Room Friday evening; and a progressive dinner hosted by campus literary societies and held under the towers of the Erskine building Saturday evening.

Sunday's activities begin with a college worship service in the morning and continue through the freshman orientation slide show and Student Government Association speeches in the evening. Fall classes begin Monday, Sept. 1.
