Johnny Dew (right) escorts his date to the Soiree Freshman Soiree 2002 The Erskine College Soiree held in Moffatt Dining Hall last night offered the Class of 2006 "A Night at the Oscars" and an opportunity to dress up in Hollywood style. The freshman soiree, a dinner dance for which freshmen are matched with dates in a random drawing, is an Erskine tradition. Freshmen moved in yesterday and began a week of orientation activities that will include focus group discussions as well as sessions on computer instruction, health topics, learning styles, library orientation, service opportunities, and student organizations. Planned social activities for freshmen include a welcome dinner at the Due West ARP Church and ice cream and pool at Snapper's, the campus canteen, on Thursday evening; karaoke in the Hangar on Friday evening; and a progressive dinner hosted by the campus literary societies on Saturday.
