An Environment for Success

Erskine Graduate Sanita Savage As the administrator for more than 2,000 teachers and 4,000 employees, Sanita Savage often has to call on the discipline and moral judgment nurtured during her time at Erskine College when she is making personnel decisions that affect three departments of the third largest school district in the state.

The 1977 Erskine graduate's success as the Senior Associate for Human Resources at Richland School District One can be traced back to Due West, to the college she selected because of its attractive environment where high academic standards are set in a unique small-town Christian atmosphere, a formula that has produced successful and productive graduates for generations.

"My success in the educational realm is due to the education and experiences I received from Erskine College," Savage said. "The program and personnel were exemplary. The religious environment was a primary factor in selecting Erskine."

Savage has used her Erskine education in a variety of academic settings. She has taught in the public school system for six years, served as a technical school instructor for a year, a personnel administrator for eight years, and assistant principal for two years.

She has served on numerous professional committees, and maintained leadership roles in professional and civic organizations. She is also currently on Erskine's Board of Trustees.

Savage has a master's degree, an educational specialist degree and doctorate degree, and she has completed the Leadership South Carolina and Superintendent Internship Programs.

A former trustee for Winthrop University, Savage is the daughter of Josh and Ella Savage of Clinton.
