Former
Harvard Administrator William J. Stauff Named Vice
President for Finance and Operations at Erskine
William J. Stauff, a senior administrator with 20
years of experience at Harvard University and the
University of Virginia, has been named vice president
for finance and operations at Erskine College and
Seminary, President John L. Carson has announced.
Carson said Stauff was the unanimous choice of the
search committee that included several trustees.
"Several years ago his desire to be involved
more directly in Christian ministry led him to work
for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association,"
said Carson of Stauff. "Most recently he has
been looking for a place to bring together his
Christian commitment with his expertise in the world
of higher education."
Carson said Erskine proved to be the perfect
place.
"Erskine is exceedingly blessed to have a
person with his commitments and experience to be part
of our family," Carson said.
Stauff is currently directing the administration
for the international ministries division of the
Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, as well as
serving as an adjunct professor of business at
Northwestern College. His duties at Erskine will
begin Aug. 7.
Stauff said, "I have had the privilege of
working for two great institutions at Harvard
University and the University of Virginia. It is a
greater honor for me to come to work at Erskine where
I will witness students experiencing an education
where knowledge and God's truth are integrated. What
a powerful combination to prepare one for life."
Stauff holds a master's degree in business
administration and has taught undergraduate business
courses. He also holds a doctorate in sacred
theology.
At Erskine, Stauff will have oversight over a
broad range of financial, business, and support
operations, including facilities management, a $13.8
million annual institutional budget and an
institutional endowment of more than $35 million.
Stauff and his wife Bert have a son who is a
recent college graduate and a daughter who is
attending college.
