One
Year Later – Erskine Students Remember
 |
Rickey
McMullen, sophomore, Rock Hill:
It made me
feel unsafe for a short period of time, but now I'm okay. I think
about it from time to time, because we as a nation must always
remember so it won't happen again
|
Legare
Miller, junior, Pamplico:
If anything,
the tragedy of 9/11 had two effects on me. It made me realize
that we are not protected and that we can go at any moment so
that my reliance on God and my faith must be stronger. And too,
it made me more patriotic. It made me take my freedom much more
seriously and made me realize the lengths I would go to to protect
it. |

Laura
Williams, senior, Norway:
September
11th made me realize how blessed we are to have firefighters,
policemen, and other public servants who will give up their lives
to save others. Today is a day of reflection and prayer, and I
am remembering in prayer the families of those who lost loved
ones. |
Brandon
Auten, junior, Rock Hill:
9/11 was a reality
check for me. I am not going to live forever, and that is a tough pill
to swallow. It was very graphic to watch, and a very emotional thing
to see on television. It seemed to have the ability to cut to the hearts
of every person who watched or saw.
Niva Prince,
sophomore, Laurens:
September
11th has made a major impact on my life because you have to really watch
where you go and who you associate with. Life in the United States will
never be the same.
Stacey
Mars, sophomore, Piedmont:
September
11th made me realize how vulnerable America is. It has also strengthened
my faith in God, and helped me to realize that God is in control
of everything.

Jon
Mize, freshman, Union:
It didn't
really affect me firsthand, but it did make me realize that things
like that can and do happen and made me appreciate everyday life
more. |
Kristen
Kelly, freshman Savannah, Ga.:
It didn't
affect me at first because it was too unbelievable, but later
when I realized what actually did happen I became scared and realized
that things can happen. |

Mark
Goldsmith, junior, Asheville, N.C.:
It
was incredible to see the nation unite and reexamine its purpose.
It made me realize how blessed we are as a nation, and how much
we take for granted.
