Erskine Athletic Training Program Takes Step Toward Accreditation

Dr. Gid Alston, Professor of Physical Education and Health at Erskine, has announced that Erskine's Athletic Training program has received approval of its candidacy application for accreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Athletic Training (JRC-AT).

“This approval was an important step in our accreditation efforts,” said Athletic Director Chip Sherer. “Jerry Shadbolt, Curriculum Director for Athletic Training, Toby Harkins, Head Athletic Trainer, and Andrew Petersen, Assistant Athletic Trainer, have been doing great work in our efforts to have our Athletic Training program receive CAAHEP Accreditation.

“Now that we are official candidates for accreditation, the real work begins,” Sherer continued. “Jerry Shadbolt is working hard to complete a lengthy self-study document that he hopes to offer the JRC-AT by June 1, 2000. We hope to then have an accreditation site visit during the fall of 2000.”
