Veterans Day Celebration At Erskine College

A Veterans Day celebration was held at Erskine College Sunday, Nov. 11, on the mall in front of Watkins Student Center. Several Erskine students and guest military personnel conducted the ceremony, which included patriotic anthems, a guest speaker, and a flag presentation.

Erskine Student Government Association president Laura Williams welcomed students and Erskine students Chanda Todd, Kathleen Goodman, David Coleman, and Chad Todd, along with the Erskine College Fleetones and the Erskine College Sweet Fleet, provided special music.

Guest speaker for the event was Major Timothy Bonner of the 111th Signal Battalion of the South Carolina Army National Guard. He was assisted in the recognition of veterans by two Erskine students, Pvt. 2 Shelly Roberts of the 74 Charlie Air Defense Artillery, Anderson, and PFC Fred Wojkowski of the 111th Signal Battalion Co. D, Hodges. Chanda Todd, secretary of the Student Christian Association, gave the closing prayer and refreshments were served on the Watkins Student Center porch.
